About Us

Since 1894, the local Fort Smith Salvation Army has served others. We currently employee 12 employees, plus seasonal workers, and hundreds of volunteers. We serve at-risk individuals and families located in Sebastian, Crawford, Sequoyah, Franklin, Logan, and Scott Counties. We aim to be a well-known collaborator as we are a United Way member agency, an Old Fort Homeless Coalition anchor member, and a member of ARVOAD.

Mission

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible.

Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.

Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Vision

To have the Arkansas River Valley area be a place where people of all ages live in safe and sustainable communities, in which differences are respected, and people are empowered to learn, work, and worship in freedom.

The Salvation Army stands for hope. When every light is extinguished, and every other star has gone dim, this one gleam shines steadily and clearly out in the darkened sky: “If I could only get to The Salvation Army, they will do something for me.”
