City of Fort Smith Proclamation

Did you know that National Salvation Army Week in Fort Smith is this week?


Thank you so to Mayor George McGill for declaring May 15-21 National Salvation Army Week.

Check out this week's proclamation :


WHEREAS, The Salvation Army has been serving the people of Fort Smith for 129 years physically, emotionally, and spiritually; and

WHEREAS, The Salvation Army is present wherever need is greatest, especially during times of crisis, where vulnerable citizens are more at risk of becoming homeless, hungry, addicted, or spiritually tired; and

WHEREAS, The Salvation Army invites the people of Fort Smith to “Love Beyond” and help the organization continue to provide life changing aid by providing emergency shelter, utility & rental assistance, and youth character building programs; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper on Salvation Army Week to recognize the tremendous impact of philanthropy, volunteerism, and community service in the city of Fort Smith; and

WHEREAS, National Salvation Army Week is an opportunity to encourage citizens to serve others with their resources and time during the difficult period many of us are experiencing;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, George McGill, Mayor of the City of Fort Smith, do hereby proclaim May 15-21, 2023, as National Salvation Army Week in the City of Fort Smith and encourage all citizens to join together to give back to the community in any way that is personally meaningful.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Fort Smith, AR, to be affixed May 15-21, 2023.
