Salvation Army Fan Drive Brings Cool Relief to River Valley Residents
The Salvation Army Fan Drive is a tradition here in the River Valley, helping the community fight the heat and stay cool in the intense Arkansas and Oklahoma summers. As awareness for the fan drive grows, community supporters look forward to the event with anticipation to help each year.
“We are thrilled to help in this small way that makes such a large impact in the River Valley each summer. The heat gets to people and comfort is important. It’s great getting to provide relief for our area residents,” said Susan Adams, Volunteer Coordinator at the Salvation Army.
OG&E kicked off the drive by donating 50 fans in July this year.
July 19, Lowe's in Van Buren and Fort Smith also held a fan drive and their consistent support is very appreciated.
On Aug. 2, all Yeager’s Hardware locations held a fan drive and this week (Aug. 5-11) they are running a “round up the change” promotion to purchase additional fans for the Fan Drive. They have been a partner for eight years now and look forward to helping every year.
If you would like to purchase or donate a fan or someone you know is in need of a fan, contact The Salvation Army at 479-783-6145 or visit them at 301 N. 6th Street in Fort Smith.
